We have to think in green solutions instead of grey when we are to preserve the water resources on Earth. This is the recommendation in the UN's yearly report "World Water Development Report".

This year the report is focussed on solutions based in nature. And there is a need for solutions concerning running water of proper quality.

According to the report 5 billion people may live with inadequate access to water of a quality which is safe for the health.

This is what, the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay tells:

“We need new solutions in managing water resources so as to meet emerging challenges to water security caused by population growth and climate change. If we do nothing, some five billion people will be living in areas with poor access to water by 2050".
