Tropentag: Call for Papers and Application For 8 Travel Grants
This years Tropentag will take place in Ghent in September 2018. The theme for the conference is “Global food security and food safety: the role of universities”. Tropentag now calls for papers. Furthermore, the Agrinatura Network offers eight travel grants for students.
On their webpage Tropentag writes following about the event:
"Tropentag is an annual, international conference on food security, natural resource management and rural development in the tropics (sensu lato). It is jointly organised by the Universities of Berlin, Bonn, Göttingen, Hohenheim, Kassel-Witzenhausen, ZALF e.V., CULS Prague (Czech Republic), BOKU Vienna (Austria) and the Council for Tropical and Subtropical Research (ATSAF e.V.) in cooperation with the GIZ Advisory Service on Agricultural Research for Development (BEAF). Tropentag is a development-oriented and interdisciplinary conference. It addresses issues of resource management, environment, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food, nutrition and related sciences in the context of rural development, sustainable resource use and poverty alleviation worldwide. The conference brings together scientists, students, graduates, development experts, funding organisations and experts from international partner organisations around the world."
Deadline for submitting abstract to Tropentag is April 15.

Students can apply for travel grants
Agrinatura offers 8 travel grants of the amount 300 EUR for MSc and PHD students from the AGRINATURA network.
Agrinatura writes following in an email:
Students are challenged to submit their abstract to the Tropentag Conference till April 15 and in the same time to send the abstract and request for travel grant to AGRINATURA Secretariat (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) till May 15. As soon as the abstract will be accepted by Tropentag conference committee, AGRINATURA selection committee will select 8 students who will receive the travel grant."
Eligible student will have to:
- be a student of AGRINATURA member institution (here) except Belgian universities this year.
- be first author of the contribution
- be personally present at the venue
- place the logo of AGRINATURA on the contribution (poster or presentation) and agree with publication on the website.
- write a short profile (CV)
- confirm not to be subsidised by another grant
