The debate, whether climate compensation is a good thing, has recently flared up in Sweden. According to three researchers, the donations for planting trees and perserving forests in developing countries are not a sustainable solutions on the climate-crisis.
The climate compensation may seem like an attractive and cheap choice to companies and consumers who would like to make a difference. But outsourcing of CO2-reductions to developing countries is connected to a range of problems that companies using climate compensation are likely to neglect.
Comprehensive research shows that it is very difficult to calculate and control the climate advantage on specific projects and create reliable results.
