A trade agreement between the EU and Indonesia can cause more deforestation in Indonesia. This is the fear of a number of environmental organizations while a new round of negotiations between the two parties are taking place in Indonesia this week. Especially an increased import of palmoil is of concern to the organizations. This is happening after a recent study showed 100.000 orangutangs have been exterminated on the Indonesian island Borneo since 1999.
